Jose Mourinho has declared that Manchester United are the unluckiest team in the Premier League after Saturday's 1-1 draw with Arsenal.


Juan Mata put United ahead at Old Trafford on Saturday in the 68th minute, but Olivier Giroud headed home with one minute of normal time left to ensure the spoils were shared.

It is a third successive league draw at home for Mourinho's side, with the Premier League title challengers now languishing in sixth.

And the Portuguese manager is growing frustrated by United's recent misfortunes, telling Sky Sports: "We are the unluckiest team in the Premier League.

"In the last three matches at home, against Stoke we have to win 5 or 6-0 and we draw, against Burnley we have to win 5 or 6-0 and we draw and today we have to win 2 or 3-0 and we draw too, so I think we are the unluckiest team.

"But the team is playing well, the team is working really well."

Mourinho felt his team were worthy of all three points at Old Trafford, hailing the way they stifled Arsenal with a strong showing in defence.

"We were the best team by far. I don't want to say they didn't want to win, but they had no chances to win," he continued.

"They couldn't be Arsenal the way they normally play football. We were phenomenal defensively – the way we pressed, we were very strong without the ball, controlled their counter-attacks, their best players.

"When we had the ball we were very comfortable. We played quality football, we scored a fantastic goal. We had chances to kill the game. The Marcos Rojo and [Paul] Pogba situations for the 2-0 were open goals and then the only time we had a situation that we couldn't resolve they scored the goal.

"So they were the lucky ones and we were unlucky, but that's football."

United had appeals for a penalty turned down after Antonio Valencia went to ground under a challenge from Nacho Monreal, but Mourinho would not lay the blame for the result with referee Andre Marriner.

"I don't want to speak about it. I have a very good feeling with Andre Marriner, he is the kind of referee that if he makes mistakes against my team I know that there is no intention," he concluded.

"I remember the words he told us before the game in his dressing room: 'I don't want to be seen, I want to do my work and you to help me do it the best I can.'

"He doesn't want to be the star of the game, he's an honest man and a good referee. If it was a mistake, I don't want to say yes or no – I know because I've watched it on video a few times – but I don't want to say because he's a referee and he's trying to do his best."

Nigeria Immigration Service explains why Nigerian passport is scarce.

The Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, NIS, Muhammad Babandede, has explained why there is scarcity of the Nigerian passport, blaming it on contracts for the production of the booklets which were awarded by the previous government when the exchange rate was not as high as it currently is.


Speaking with journalists in Abuja on Saturday, he stated that while the price of the Nigerian passport has not changed, the cost of bringing in the component has changed owing to the increase in the dollar exchange rate. He pointed out that the Service has made proposals to the government.

Babandede, who pointed out that a hike in price is not the only way to address the scarcity, noted however, that it is not sustainable for the price of the Nigerian passport to remain the same despite of the high cost of production.

Speaking on the efforts made by the Service to increase government revenue, he stated that as at the end of last month, the NIS had generated more revenue than what was realized for the government via Immigrations in 2015. The CGI stated that while $29,747,900 (N25,872,320,787.83) was generated in 2015, $32,733,810 (N29,236,679,810.91) has been realized as at the end of October 2016.

He added that the Service can increase the revenue by 25 percent in 2017 if government goes ahead to consider some issues it raised in the budget.

BIAFRA :Nnamdi Kanu a combination of Azikwe, Ojukwu, Kaduna Nzeogwu all rolled into one – Fani- Kayode.

Former spokesperson to ex- President Goodluck Jonathan campaign Organisation, Chief Femi Fani- Kayode said Saturday that him and others would join hands with the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu to collectively bring down those he termed, their collective enemies.

In a statement, Fani- Kayode who extolled the qualities of Kanu, said that he is not just a combination of Owelle Nnamdi Azikwe and Dim Emeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu: but a combination of Azikwe, Ojukwu and Major Kaduna Nzeogwu all rolled into one.

According to Fani- Kayode, Kanu who loves the Igbos, serves as a rallying point for Igbo nationalism, the fight for self-determination of the people of the east and the establishment of the sovereign state of Biafra.

He said, “And when that time comes we shall stand shoulder to shoulder with men like who is the leader of IPOB a Nnamdi Kanu and face down our collective enemies.” In a statement titled, “the Heart and Soul of Nnamdi Kanu, Chief Fani- Kayode said, “In my essay titled “Head Bloodied But Not Bowed And The Ascension Of President-Elect Donald J. Trump” (Part 1) I wrote the following: “When I went to visit the great and brilliant freedom fighter, Nnamdi Kanu, who is the leader of IPOB and easily the most courageous, powerful and credible Igbo leader in Nigeria today in his cell we had a very instructive and long discussion.

“I had never met Nnamdi before and I was amazed at his depth of knowledge, his immense courage and his deep convictions.

“I can also tell you that he feels and shares the pain of the Igbo and he yearns for their liberation and emanciption from an increasingly hostile and oppressive Nigerian state.

Consequently right-wing nationalist and ultra-nationalist groups and political parties are rising up and regaining credibility and power.

“Political parties with a similar ideology and that are led by equally strong-willed, focused and charissmatic figures are also making great waves and slowly gaining more power and relevance in Italy, Germany, Austria, Holland, Greece, Belgium, Hungary, Russia, the Phillipines, Israel and indeed all over the world.

“Thankfully Nigeria has not been left out. We have men like Nnamdi Kanu in the east, Ganiyu Adams in the west, Asari Dokubo in the Niger Delta and others from elsewhere who believe passionately in the restructuring of the Federation, the redefinition of the Nigerian state, the right of self-determination for their respective people and the expression of power, pride, self-respect and dignity for their various ethnic nationalities.

Ukraine begs Trump for help against Russian aggression.

Ukrainian president Petro Poroshenko asked Donald Trump for support against “Russian aggression” during a congratulatory telephone conversation with the US president-elect on Tuesday.

Trump’s shock election victory has been met with trepidation in Kiev because of the outspoken reality TV star’s praise of Russian President Vladimir Putin, and his apparent indifference to the Western coalition against Moscow.

The billionaire businessman suggested earlier this year the US could accept Russia’s annexation of Crimea if it led to improved relations between the two nations, which are bitterly at odds over Syria.

Poroshenko congratulated Trump on his victory and said he wished “to work together with his administration to further strengthen the strategic partnership between Ukraine and the United States”, according to a statement by the Ukrainian presidency.

He also “underlined the necessity of strong support from Washington in the fight against Russian aggression and the implementation of crucial reforms” in Ukraine.

The two men agreed to organise “a bilateral meeting”, the statement said, without giving further details.

The US election outcome had sparked fears in the ex-Soviet republic after Trump was accused several times by his Democratic presidential rival Hillary Clinton of being Putin’s “puppet”.

Earlier this week, Poroshenko said he had “no doubt” that Trump would refuse to recognise Russia’s annexation of Crimea.

Putin and Trump spoke on the phone on Monday evening for the first time since the US vote, agreeing on the need to normalise ties between Washington and Moscow, the Kremlin said.

After Moscow’s annexation of Ukraine’s Crimea peninsula in March 2014, which saw US-Russia relations dip to their worst since the Cold War, Washington imposed heavy economic sanctions on Russia.

Russia also has been accused by Washington of supporting pro-Russian rebels in eastern Ukraine, which the Kremlin denies.

Pep Guardiola joked that his Manchester City players wouldn't be playing as well if he had introduced a s*x ban.


The City boss responded to claims from French midfielder Samir Nasri, who said that Guardiola had put a ban on s*x after midnight.

The Super Eagles will strive to remain unbeaten in the Africa Group B of the 2018 World Cup qualifiers, according to Nigeria's coach Gernot Rohr.


"I am happy with the success we have made so far in the World Cup qualifiers," Rohr said in Abuja. "Two wins from two games and on top of the group log is good but it demands hard work and total dedication to remain there to the end of the qualifiers next year. Our next game against Cameroon is very crucial and we have to win to enhance our chances.

"We are looking at the possibility of going through the qualifiers unbeaten. We want to continue to play to win all our matches. The group is tough but we have taken a good lead and if we continue like that we shall be in Russia. After beating Algeria in Uyo, we need to beat Cameroon here and hope for a result in the return leg to seal our qualification."

He said that to ensure that unbeaten run continues, he would embark on a tour of Germany, Turkey, Belgium and France to talk with some players and their club officials in an effort to strengthen the Super Eagles quest to be in Russia.

On Isaac Success, Rohr said that he has been monitoring his health condition, adding that he would give him a chance to play for the Eagles.

We targeted politicians who stole money – Hajia, robbers’ informant.

The police have arrested an eight-man gang of armed robbers said to be terrorising Abuja, Kogi and Kano states. Among them is Rekia Musa, a divorcee and Accounting graduate of the Kogi State University, who told the police that she had only been an informant for the gang for four months.


The police said the gang had links with a suspect, Zakeria Isiaka arrested recently by the Inspector-General of Police Response Team,  along the Okene-Akure Expressway. It would be recalled that on November 5, it was reported that Isiaka claimed that he could have become the Chief Security Officer of Kogi State if the late All Progressives Congress candidate in the governorship election in Kogi State, Abubakar Audu, had not die.

 Others arrested along with Musa are Ismaila Abdulmumuni, Abu-Amidu Disu, Tenimu  Musa, Boniface David, Aliu Isah and Danjuma Cyprian.

A police source told reporters that the suspects confessed to have carried out several robbery operations, including an April 2015 operation in Abuja where about N200m was stolen from some politicians.

In her statement, Musa, popularly called Hajia, explained that about four months ago, one of her friends, Isha Mohammed, approached her and said he knew some politicians who had stolen public money and hidden them in their houses.

She said, “He asked if I could help him to get a charm that would make it possible for him to disappear, called Etubi. He said if he could disappear into the politician’s house and steal the money unnoticed, he would give me a large cut of the money.

“I then travelled to my village in Agba Local Government Area of Kogi State and met a boy called Tenimu. I told him about the plan and he promised that he could get the charm.

“But instead, Tenimu told his friends about the money. The friends were armed robbers. They then came and tricked me into taking them to the politician’s house in Kano State.”

According to Musa, when the gang got to the house in Kano, they were discouraged by the heavy presence of policemen and went back home.

However, she said she became upset because the plan did not fall through.

“I thought targetting politicians who have stolen government money was a good idea because I was broke. Few days later, Isah got another piece of information about an immigration officer based in Lagos, who had stolen government money.

“I contacted my gang and we went to the man’s house and robbed him. But we didn’t get as much money as Isah told us the man had at home.”

Police sources said the suspects came on the radar of security agents after robbing the immigration officer, a comptroller in the service.

Musa, AKA Hajia, also allegedly went around town to scout for victims for the gang before her arrest.

Twenty-five-year-old Mohammed, who brought the information about the immigration officer to the gang,  explained that it was the only operation he ever went with the gang.

The suspect, also a Kogi State indigene, explained the he was a fashion designer with a shop in Bwari area of Abuja.

He said, “It was the bad friends I met in Abuja that led me into armed robbery.  There was this customer, Ismaila, whom I made clothes for. He was the first person who told me about the money the politicians usually brought to his office at Mabuchi area of Abuja.

“He said the politicians shared the money there and he said he could rob them. I then told him about one of my customers, Dan, who normally wore a charm around his waist. I told him he could take part in the robbery.

“I also told another friend, Ismaila (Abdulmumuni). When I informed Dan about the money and the plan to rob the politicians, he said we should hold a meeting along the Duste Expressway in Abuja. He also brought some of his friends and Dan asked that we should go to the place.

“After a while, Dan said we might need guns for the robbery and that the politicians might have some powerful charms.”

Mohammed said on the day the politicians came again to share money at the location, the gang was immediately alerted by Abdulmumuni. The gang stormed the place and robbed the politicians of over N200m.

Mohammed said, “After the operation, Dan called and gave me N4.5m, which he said I should share with Ismalia. But I later learnt that we actually got more than  N200m from the robbery. Dan alone got N25m.”

EFCC speaks on ongoing probe of MMM operations in Nigeria.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has confirmed that it is investigating operations of the MMM investment scheme in Nigeria.


EFCC spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, said the agency has put MMM under surveillance, and that the House of Representatives cannot direct the EFCC to investigate what he described as faceless wonder bank like MMM.

“We can only arrest people based on the evidence that we have. The House made a resolution but the resolution is a public announcement," he said.

“We have always been advising people not to patronize wonder banks because experience over time has shown that their activities are not sustainable.

“If you get involved in it, you will eventually get hurt. What we are currently doing is to sensitize people. We know people want to make quick money as a result of recession through this MMM.

“The unfortunate thing about this MMM is that it is not a Nigerian firm but we are looking at and we will still tell the media whatever we find out,” Uwujaren said.
